Theme of the year 2019
The Relevance of The Gospel in Life:
The New Word from the realm of the angels in our modern lives.
The New Word from the realm of the angels in our modern lives.
After a year of consolidation and the establishment of a first foundational year of six weekend modules, Africa Seminary is preparing for a second foundation year.
In 2018 a theme: The essential nature and purpose of the human being - Finding meaning in the Spirit, allowed for an exploration of Anthroposophy and a worldview that could assist in understanding a renewed relationship to the sacraments in The Christian Community. This foundational year worked with three seminal texts by Rudolf Steiner: Theosophy, An Outline of Esoteric Science (Occult Science) and Knowledge of the Higher Worlds. The modules made it possible to take the content knowledge of the books and connect with their meaning and application through artistic experiences. The Beatitudes, the Twelve Senses and the Buddhist path as renewed in Luke's Gospel rounded off the year and added to the unfolding of the theme.
Now, in preparation for 2019 we are anticipating an exploration of the gospels. The overall theme: The Relevance of The Gospel in Life - the New Word from the realm of the angels in our modern lives has been divided into three sub-themes, each spread over two consecutive modules: The Infancy Narratives, From Jesus to Christ and The Unfolding of the Mystery of Golgotha. We hope to bring to life the experiences that will deepen the connection to the great mystery of incarnation, of what became 'the turning point of time'. This will follow a similar pattern to 2018, with weekend modules running from Friday evening to Sunday late afternoon. The gospels are not a two-thousand year old story about the life and times of a person who lived ‘back then’ and whose relevance is fading. They are rather a pivotal present-day living story of the life of Him, whose influence is relevant in our lives today as the Risen One.
The modules are open to anyone who wishes to explore and discover what they may hold for them and their development.
